Welcome!BIS celebrates 35 years as a centre for education serving the needs of expatriates and others in Bandung. Much has changed since the early day as Bandung International Study group, as it was officially known back in 1972. After growing significantly in those early years and with some judicious planning, the school moved to its current site in 1982. The addition of Middle School and High School saw the facilities expand even further. Programmes have also developed, with the introduction of the IBPYP and IBDP adding to our status as a school offering excellence in education. Recently I was looking through FaceBook and found the BIS Alumni group. It was wonderful to see our former students and alumni speaking so warmly of their experiences at BIS.We look forward to the celebrations that will mark the occasion of our 35 th Anniversary, and to providing an excellent education to our students in the years to come.

35 years of BIS! Then located in a house in Ciumbuleuit, I wonder what those parents, teachers and students who founded our school back in 1972 would think of us now? Congratulations BIS! May you continue to grow and develop your reputation as a school of excellence in education in the years to come. May you have a long and successful future!

When I realised the BIS 35 th anniversary is coming up, I started visualizing an additional section to our website to inform new comers about how we once started, but also to inform those who were here before about how we are doing now, what Bandung looks like etc.

I mentioned the idea to Rod Murphy, our IT coordinator and before I knew I had a '35 Years of BIS Contract' on my desk, with me as the ‘client' and three High School students as the ‘web builders'.

The contract started on September 14 th and our aim was to have the additional website running before January 1st 2008. We had scheduled weekly meetings to discuss ideas, share work and provide feedback.

Let's celebrate together with anybody who is, or used to be, a part of this wonderful BIS community!
